FrutPlanet is a leading exporter and supplier of fresh broccoli and other fruits and vegetables. You can request a quote and let us engage you in your order.
Colour: The best fresh broccoli for export should be green before the flower patch. The broccoli florets have a size of a matchstick and open up to small yellow flowers. Apart from green broccoli, there is also purple broccoli. At FrutPlanet, we source your preferred variety of broccoli right before it flowers.
Stems and Stalks: Fresh broccoli stems and stalks are edible and delicious. However, they’re only perfect when firm. If they over-mature, they become woody and may be terrible. FrutPlanet handpicks all the fresh broccoli to feel the texture of each product. We have a team of experts who scrutinise the harvest and eliminate produce whose stems and stalks aren’t edible.
Head Size: The size of fresh broccoli varies depending on the number of broccoli florets on the head. The size enlarges as the flowering stage nears. The average diameter of a fresh broccoli head is 4 to 6 inches when the broccoli is mature and ready for flowering. When you request a quote from FrutPlanet exporters, we source your specifications on sizes. We can get them all, whether you want large or medium-sized fresh broccoli!
Flowering: Fresh broccoli with yellow flowers is often past the edible stage. Flowers signify that the flowers have opened up, and the stalk could be woody. Additionally, yellowing is a sign of older broccoli, although sometimes it could be natural. At FrutPlanet, we individually evaluate every product and eliminate broccoli florets before exporting.
Fresh broccoli is one mineral-rich cruciferous vegetable. It’s in the same category as nutrient-wealthy products such as kale, cauliflower, cabbage, collard greens, and turnips. The vegetable offers a wide range of benefits that include:
It Reduces the Risk of Cancer. Fresh broccoli contains antioxidants that facilitate the destruction of cancerous cells. One of the antioxidants it contains is sulforaphane, the bitter-tasting compound in cruciferous vegetables. The compound detoxifies body chemicals from activities like smoking, and experts suggest that it has enormous antitumor properties. It’s associated with reducing the risk of prostate cancer.
Promoted Hormonal Balance in the Body. Fresh broccoli has a plant compound called indole-3-carbinol. The component is essential in the regulation of oestrogen in the human body. It reduces the risk of being a victim of oestrogen-induced cancers that mainly attack breasts and the reproductive system.
Broccoli Promotes Gut Health. Fibre is essential in a diet as it helps weight loss and prevents constipation. Fresh broccoli has high-fibre composition, thereby lowering your appetite. Research also shows that fibre lowers the risk of colon cancer.
It has Anti-Inflammatory Effects. People who have diabetes and arthritis often experience inflammation. The condition is common when the immune system is under attack by an infection. The sulforaphane compound in broccoli helps reduce the inflammation markers in the body.
Supports Heart health. Studies show that fresh broccoli improves your heart health. Fresh broccoli reduces LDL cholesterol and triglyceride. These two components are attributed to increasing rates of heart disease. Some researchers are testing broccoli sprout-powered supplements.
Improves Skin Appearance: Fresh broccoli has high levels of vitamin C, which helps produce collagen. This protein composes the structure of the skin, cartilage, bones, and almost every essential tissue in the body. The collagen in Vitamin C prevents damage and wrinkling.
Slows Down Mental Decline. Fresh broccoli contains some bioactive compounds that support the brain and nervous system. One of the bioactive compounds is sulforaphane; it supports the brain cells in case of a decrease in oxygen. Researchers are constantly doing new studies to identify more components and the findings are promising!
Improves Eye Health. The eye site becomes impaired with old age. However, fresh broccoli has carotenoid compounds such as lutein and zeaxanthin. These compounds decrease the risk of becoming impaired. Additionally, fresh broccoli has beta-carotene, a compound that the body converts to Vitamin A. The deficiency of this vitamin in the body causes night blindness.
We sort and grade broccoli into two major categories depending on the size and visual characteristics.
Grade 1: The stalks and stems of the fresh broccoli under this category are fresh and tender. The colour is unique, and the heads are compact with florets. The length of this broccoli should be 6 inches and not less than 4 inches. On the other hand, the diameter of the stalks and stems is over three-eighths of an inch.
Grade 2: Similar to grade one, the fresh broccoli in this category has stalks and stems that are fresh, tender, and have a characteristic green colour. The heads are also compact, trimmed, and with no damage. However, the length of broccoli under this category ranges between six and three inches. On the other hand, the diameter of the stem and stalks is over one-fourth of an inch.
Here at FrutPlanet, we package the fresh broccoli produced in plastic cartons and wrap it with a plastic film. That way, the sprouts will have an increased shelf life. The capacity of each carton ranges from 6 to 8kg and has between 10 to 15 broccolis.
